Charles BattyAugust 17, 1931 ~ August 3, 2017 (age 85)
Muncie Charles Batty, 85, US Army Infantry Korean War Vet born, August 17, 1931 in Muncie, the son of Jim and Treva (Sims) Batty, went home to The Lord August 3, 2017. He attended Muncie Central High School where he ran track. He worked and retired as a Supervisor after 40 years at Warner Gear. Mr. Batty attended the True Light Baptist Church. Charles married Marilyn (Dobbs) Batty on September 27, 2002 in Franklin and she survives.
Besides his wife of 15 years, Marilyn, he is survived by a brother, Ron Batty ;two daughters, Linn Ann Ried and Kimberly Sue Byrd (Husband-Dale); two step daughters, Carolyn Cross (husband-Mike), Amanda S. Ullman (Husband-Tommy Lee, Jr.); five grandchildren, Mollie Ried, Sara Kissick (husband-Adam), Alicia, Tricia and Gene Pankey; Many great grandchildren; his good buddies, Cecil McShirly, Rod Gardner, John Wallace and several special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Batty.
Mr. Batty had OPC , and KYCH Masonic, recipient of the MSA Award, Past Master of the Eaton Lodge #606, member of the York Rite and Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. He was the Past Govenor of the York Rite College #55, the Past Vice President of the Scottish Rite Club of Muncie, the Past President of High 12 State Chapter of the State of Indiana, Past High Priest in Middletown; He went through the line of the Chapter, Council and Commandary. He was Secretary and Treasurer of High 12 for over 22 years. He was active in many other Masonic Groups and a member of the Parker Lodge #630. While at Warner Gear he was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, very interested cars in and collected watches of all kinds.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial follow at the Gardens of Memory north of Muncie. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Parson Mortuary from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Masonic rites will be rendered at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
