Charles “Chalkie” R. Myers, 70

            MUNCIE-Charles “Chalkie” R. Myers, 70, of Muncie, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his residence.

            He was born March 31, 1946 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late William L. and Mildred (Cooper) Myers.  Charles grew up in Muncie and attended Muncie Southside High School.  Charles served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1971.  He retired in 1995 after working for 28 years as a production supervisor at Aeroforge and Ontario Forge. 

            Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Claudia Kay (Sloan) Myers; son, Danny Myers, (wife-Michelle, Tunnel Hill, Georgia; two stepsons, Allen Thompson, (wife-Heather); and Claude Davis; four sisters, Shirley Wallace; Hatty Khein, Anderson, Indiana; Pamela Sturgeon; and Brenda Myers; ten grandchildren, and a very special grandson, Tom Tom; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Roger Moore and Rex Ramey.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles L. Myers; two brothers, Carl R. Myers and William L. Myers Jr.; sister, Martha Werrell; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

            Services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 with Pastor Eugene McComas officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.

            Calling will be at the mortuary from 11:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service.
