Charles "Chuck" R. Drake

August 9, 1935 ~ February 9, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Albany, Charles “Chuck” R. Drake, 81, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, February 9, 2017, at the Albany Health Care Center surrounded by his family members following an extended illness.  He was born on August 9, 1935, in Indianapolis, the son of Thomas Marshall and Violet Anna (Pence) Drake.

                Chuck had proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era and later married the love of his life, Vivian Kay (Alsip) Drake on August 5, 1964 and she survives.   Mr. Drake had owned and operated motorcycle dealerships both in Richmond and Winchester for eight years and then became a Kirby Vacuum distributor for sixteen years prior to his retirement in 1998.  He was a member of the True Light Baptist Church and enjoyed making model airplanes.  Chuck was very musically inclined and could do just about anything he set his mind to.

                Besides his wife of 52 years, Vivian, he is survived by one daughter, Tammy Hyman (husband-Eric), Shelbyville, Kentucky; one son, Terry Drake (wife-Diane), Muncie; five grandchildren, Drake Hyman (wife-Haley), Argentina, Deric Hyman (fiancé-Abigail Siegel) and Madalynn Hyman, both of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Ryne Drake and Stephen Drake, both of Muncie; his two favorite pet friends, Rocky and Red, and many other relatives and friends.

                He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jane Logan.

                Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017, 3:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating.   Graveside services will be held on Monday February 13, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at the Strong Cemetery in Albany.  Military honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.

                Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
