Douglas Hartley

Muncie- Douglas Hartley, 80, passed away Friday May 19, 2017 at his residence in Muncie. He was born on August 29, 1936 the son of Gerald and Edith Hartley.

Douglas was a graduate of Muncie Central High School. After school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he met his first wife Vivian T. Cyr, whom he would have 6 wonderful children with.  When his career with the Airforce was over Douglas went on to become a police officer and later on in life would work at Muncie Aviation. He married his second wife Nancy Gossett whom he spent 20 years with. Douglas loved watching NASCAR and woodworking. He also enjoyed being outside either fishing, metal detecting and watching the airplanes fly over.

Left to mourn the loss of Douglas are his children Jenniffer (Richard Goff) Hartley, Cheryl (Bruce Wyatt) Bradway, Douglas (Irtha) Hartley Jr., Laurie (Terry) Brunner, step children Jennifer (Chris) Carrier and Kris Gossett, a brother Gary (Pam) Hartley, a sister Kathy (Charles) Ross, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Debra Kay and Lisa Gale, a sister Marsha (Hartley) Brown and a granddaughter Tameka Sims.

Funeral Services will be Thursday May 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Jim Ballenger officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M until start of the service on Thursday.
