Edwyn Don Jones

Muncie- Edwyn (Don) Jones passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Golden Living Center.  He was born in Muncie on February 22, 1934, to his parents, Fred and May (Hole) Jones.

                Don is survived by Joy (Greer) Jones, his loving wife of 61 years.  They were married in Muncie on January 27, 1956.  After they were married, they lived together in the same home for 51 years.  They loved their home and never wanted to live anywhere else.  Don and Joy have three surviving sons who reside in Muncie, Allan Jones, Dan Jones and Troy Jones (wife-Tammie).  His was also a loving grandfather to Matt Jones, Mendy (husband-Tom) Montgomery,  and Allison Jones, as well as his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Seth Montgomery, all of Muncie.  He is also survived by his brother, Fred Jones, Jr. (wife-Martha) of Hernando, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and May Jones, as well as his sister, Jane Shultz and, brother-in-law, Paul Shultz.

                Don graduated from Central High School in Muncie in 1952.  He had been raised in Muncie by his parents, who developed his love of, early abilities as a mechanic.  This grew to become his life’s work, having spent 30 years at Warner Gear, Where he worked as an experimental technician.  He retired in 1989 from Borg-Warner after they purchased Warner Gear.  Don also spent 2 years in the United States Army where he served as a helicopter mechanic.  He enjoyed a Lifetime Membership to the Loyal Order of the Moose Fraternity.  Don and Joy enjoyed traveling in their RV and visited almost every state.  Early years saw them traveling with their family touring the United States and, later they enjoyed winters in Florida, Where they made many friends.  Don was an engaging man who made friends wherever their travels took them.  They also enjoyed gathering with friends and family to play cards.  Don was always ready to help family or friends when they were in need.

                Don had recently moved to the Golden Living Center, where he lived out his last days.  The Jone’s family would like to give a special thanks to their staff and, especially Allison, a great and caring nurse.

                Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Gary Kirchoff officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
