George E. Roberts

Selma-George E. Roberts, 76, passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness.  He was born on December 21, 1939, in Oakland City, Indiana, son of Amel Norris and Bernice Eileen (Polk) Roberts.  

            He is a 1958 graduate of Muncie Central High School and married the love of his life Bonnie (Wilkinson) Roberts on July 23, 1960 at the Selma United Methodist Church and she survives.   Mr. Roberts had worked as a Draftsman for Westinghouse ABB for 38 years retiring in 1998.  Later he would work with his grandson Jayden as a custodian at the Compass Church where he had been a member as well.  George was a member of the Lions Club of Selma, where he had been a past president, had been a Cub Scout Master of Selma Troop #9 and also enjoyed participating with the Romeo Coffee Club of Selma now known as the Governors’ Coffee Club.  Mr. Roberts had also been a past president of the Wapahani Band Boosters.

            Besides his wife of fifty five and half  years, Bonnie, he is survived by two daughters, Julia Roberts, Indianapolis and Melissa Roberts Davis (husband-Mike), Muncie; one son, Greg Roberts (wife-Deborah), Yorktown; five grandchildren, Adrian Aul (wife-Megan), Maleah (husband-Zach)Parrish, Kodi (fiancé-Katie Gibb), Jayden and Hanna Pfleeger; three great granddaughters, Ava, Alexis Aul and Sofia Foudray; one sister-in-law, Mary (Spaw) Hurn , Yorktown; one brother, Richard Roberts (wife-Joann),      Florida; several nieces and nephews.  He will also be greatly missed by his little princess, his dog Zoë Rose.

            He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Spaw; his parents; and his In-laws, Robert and Rosemary Wilkinson.

            Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 6, 2016, 1:00 P.M.    At The Compass Church Selma campus 400 N. CR 600 E Selma,with Pastor Mark Ellcessor and Rev. Phill Wills officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

            Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary Friday evening, February 5, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at The Compass Church Selma campus from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
