Hazel Virginia (Hensley) Thomas

Muncie- Hazel Virginia Thomas, 75, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 24, 2016, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  She was born on, March 25, 1941 in Charlottesville, Virginia the daughter of Robert and Helen (Lawter) Hensley. 

                Hazel attended Charlottesville city Schools and later married the love of her life Stuart L. Thomas on July 18, 1958 in Muncie and he preceded her in death 2011.  Mrs. Thomas had worked for Ross Supermarket later known as Marsh for 15 years as a Cashier.  She enjoyed family times with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Hazel and her bingo partner, her sister Betty would go shopping for the grandchildren as part of their bingo outings.

                 She is survived by one son, Robert “Bobby” Thomas,  Muncie; four grandchildren, Heather Ann Eiler (husband-Justin) , Anderson, Jordan David Thomas and Nicholas Robert Thomas , and Jennifer Small, all of Muncie ; three great grandchildren, Jaedyn, Florida, Haidyn and Travis, Muncie  one sister, Betty Wright, Daleville; several nieces and nephews.

                Besides her husband of  53 years, Stuart, she is preceded in death by her eldest son, Stuart, Jr.;  parents; two brothers, Charles Hensley and Robert Hensley, Jr.; three  sisters, Cathy Brown, Charlotte Angstant and Evelyn Burke.

                Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, November 30, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Dr. Ron Ross officiating.  Entombment will follow at the Beech Grove Cemetery Mausoleum.

                Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Wednesday morning, November 30, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
