Jerry Leroy Smith

     MUNCIE – Jerry L. Smith, 82, Muncie, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016.

     He was born May 2, 1934 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late Grace Smith.

     Jerry was the “#1 Fan” of Muncie Central Athletics.  It was his honor to be invited to pray with the players before the games and to be included in the homecoming parades.  He was employed by Ross Supermarkets until his retirement in 1999.

     He was a member of Full Gospel Temple and loved his Lord Jesus Christ.  Jerry was very prayerful and would pray for everyone that he would meet. 

     He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace (Wilson) Smith; his wife, Nancy (Haffner) Smith; and a sister, Mary Jane Osborne.

     He is survived by one son, Jerry Joseph Smith, (Tiffonie); two brothers, Orville Smith, (Karon); Ted Smith, (Linda); one sister, Janet Day, (Jim); one granddaughter, Karen Anne Wagner; four grandsons, Michael Reed; Tommy Lee Smith; Erik Allen Smith; and Brandon James Smith; five great-grandchildren, Madeline; McKenna; Olive; Brice; and Paul Jr.; two very special nieces who were also his caregivers whom Jerry loved  with all his heart, Carol Bolin; and Kathleen Pritchard; good friends, Dick Hostetler, (Shirley); John Hostetler; Kay Rankin; and Andy Munson.

     Services will be at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 with Pastor Denny Helton officiating.

     Calling will be at the mortuary from 4:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 and one hour prior to services on Friday.

     Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.
