John Kenneth Wright, 92, of Muncie, departed this life on the 20th of June, 2016. He was born on September 26, 1923 to Clarence R. and Sarah M. (Keller) Wright in Delaware County, Indiana.
On June 29, 1949, John married Marilyn (Sweigart) Wright and together they raised three sons: Steve D. Wright, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stan B. Wright and Scott Alan Wright, both of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Nicole Wright Kays and Daniel Scott Wright both of Indianapolis. John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herman, Harold and Charles Wright; one sister, Jeanne Williams.
His undergraduate degree was from Purdue University, and he spent his early career as a Teacher and Principal at Gaston, Cowan and Monroe Central Schools, prior to earning his Doctorate of Education from Ball State University. He joined the staff there for the remainder of his professional career.
John most definitely enjoyed people and especially young people! He invested more than 50 years in local 4-H programs as an adult leader, was on the Delaware County Fair Board for 19 years. He cherished his involvement in so many areas of the Community over the decades. John was proud to have donated more than 33 gallons of blood. Mr. Wright was an ardent supporter of both of the teams he supported and spent countless hours cheering on, his beloved Purdue Boilermakers and Ball State Cardinals.

John’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 11:00 am in the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. The Family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. And again on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
