Muncie- Kathleen “Katey” J. Grimes, 90, passed away early Sunday morning, October 4, 2015, at the Woodlands Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was born on July 16, 1925 in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Willard Banks and Luella (Hall) Banks Schrader.
Kathleen is a 1942 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later married the love of her life William Grimes on September 2, 1945 and he has preceded her in death June 22, 2002. Mrs. Grimes had been a homemaker and owned and operated the Country Farm Chicken Restaurant for 7 years. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge Chapter #33 and the First Baptist Church of New Castle. Katey was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing various card games.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce Grimes (fiancé- Julie Hatfield), Muncie, Randy Grimes, Kokomo and Pat Grimes, California; one daughter, Teri Grimes (companion-J.R.Norris), Muncie; eight grandchildren, Angie Collins (David), Carey (Sean)Grimes and Zachary Grimes, all of Muncie and Brandon Grimes (Jenny), Indianapolis, Jordan Grimes (Kayla), Kokomo, Cameron Grimes, Florida, Erin Smith (Paul) Georgia and Benjamin Grimes, Louisville, Kentucky; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 57 years, William, she is preceded in death by her son, Wesley Grimes; her parents; one brother, Junior Banks and one sister, Evelyn Jacob.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015, 7:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary. Private family burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Eaton, Indiana on Thursday. .
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
