Lois Malone Obituary

     Lois (Gullett) Malone, 86, passed away January 23, 2018, following an extended illness.  She was born on May 4, 1931 in Delaware, Ohio the daughter of Rev. Paul Revere and Cecille (Fegley) Gullett.  Lois was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Vernon Jr. Sr. High School in Mt. Vernon, Ohio; she later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene College.

     Lois married the love of her life James Wesley Malone on April 5, 1953, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, he preceded her in death on July 1, 2010.    Mrs. Malone worked in public education as a teacher for many years prior to earning her administrative license and becoming a licensed Principal.  She served schools in Michigan City, Kokomo, Shelbyville, and Richmond.  She became an Associate Professor at I.U. East in Richmond after she retired from the public schools.  Mrs. Malone was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle, the Indiana State Teachers’ Association and the National Principals Association.  She loved to sing and participate in music ministry at churches.  Lois was a very devoted teacher and went above and beyond by providing items such as hats, gloves, school supplies and school lunches to her students that were in need.  Lois especially treasured family times with her children and grandchildren whenever possible.  She was truly a “Proverbs 31” woman in every sense of the word!

     Survivors include, one daughter, Carol Malone Wyatt (husband-Stephen), Waterford, Michigan; one son, Craig B. Malone (wife-Yvonne), Muncie; six grandchildren, Shannon Walker (husband-Jardin), Matthew Wyatt, Waterford, Michigan, Cara Strange (husband-Partrick), Kokomo, James Malone (fiancé-Amber), Westville, Nathan Malone (fiancé-Teresa), Portage and Rebecca Samuels(husband-Jason), Michigan City.; three step grandchildren, Jennifer Cameron (husband-Frank), Muncie, Katie Cooper , Gaston and Kyle Cooper (wife-Nicki), Greenville, North Carolina; five great grandchildren; Tivon, Kyra, Ada, Myra, Alex ; six step great grandchildren; Colin, Annabelle, Liam, Silas, Harper, Alexis and Ezra; several nieces and nephews.

     Besides her husband of 57 years, James, she is preceded in death by a still born son, Paul Dennis Malone; a granddaughter, Kelly Beth Wyatt; her parents; one sister, Phyllis Magers; several brothers and sisters-in-laws.

     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 4:30 P.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene located at 1727 Grand Ave. New Castle, Indiana 47363, with Pastor Danny Goddard officiating.

     Friends may call at the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service.

     Burial with graveside service will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00A.M. (CST) in the Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in Rensselaer, Indiana with Pastor Matthew Wyatt officiating.

     Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
