Muncie-Martha R. Geelhoed, 91, passed away early Friday morning, June 24, 2016, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on May 4, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of John R. and Jeanette M. (Brummeler) Smitter. She attended school in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids South High School.
She married Edward Geelhoed on February 28, 1947, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband. Mrs. Geelhoed was an administrative secretary in the Grand Rapids Public Schools from 1962-1970 and in the Kentwood (Michigan) Public schools from 1970-1980. She was a member of the fifth Reformed Church in Grand Rapids and, after moving to Muncie in 1988, of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, E. Bruce and Deborah L. Geelhoed, Muncie, two grandsons, Marc E. Geelhoed, Chicago and Steven D. Geelhoed, Milwaukee, sister-in-law, Charlotte L. Geelhoed, Grand Rapids, niece and husband, Christine and Gregg Munson, Indianapolis, and nephew, Paul A. Geelhoed, Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Geelhoed, her parents, and granddaughter, Beth Gellhoed. Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 27 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2801 W. Riverside, Muncie, with Dr. Kristofer Holroyd officiating. Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI with Rev. Jack D. Cooper officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Jun26, at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, IN, or an hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
