Michael J. Bailey, 61

            Michael “Mike” Bailey, 61, Muncie, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

            He was born September 18, 1954 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late Wallace L. and Mary Opal (Garrett) Bailey.  Mike was a 1972 graduate of Muncie Central High School. 

            Mike was a Master Carpenter and was employed as the lead carpenter at West Minster Village for 38 years prior to his retirement in 2015.  It’s no secret that he loved woodworking and could literally build anything.  He enjoyed baseball and the Cincinnati Reds.  He was a very honest and loyal man who would help anyone in need.  Most importantly Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

            Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lisa (Williamson) Bailey; three daughters, Prudence Shallenberger (husband-Trent); Abigail Barrett (husband-Riley); and Sarah Michael Bailey; one granddaughter, Alexis Barrett; two brothers, Larry Bailey (wife-Barbara); and Gene Bailey; one sister, Lorretta Horner; two special nieces, Amanda and Rebecca Bailey; special friends, Lara and Michael and their four children, Gabbriel, Alisha, Thomas, and Grant; and several other nieces, nephews, and special friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Mary Opal Bailey; sister, Phyllis Humphrey; grandson, Pierce Resler; two nephews, Phillip Reed and Nathan Skinner; and a brother-in-law, Homer Horner.

            Services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 with Michael Hess officiating.  Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.

            Calling will be at the mortuary on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday.
