Naomi Ruth (Davidson) (Costello)Smith

June 17, 1916 ~ June 29, 2012 (age 96) 96 Years Old

          Muncie-Naomi Ruth (Costello) Smith, 96, went home to be with her Lord, on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Bethel Pointe Health Care Center following an extended illness.  She was born on June 17, 1916, in Hagerstown, Indiana the daughter of Clessie and Ona (Byrket) Davidson.

          Naomi attended the Hagerstown Schools and married her first husband, Lilburn Artist Costello in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1975.  Mrs. Costello then married her second husband Emmet Smith in 1977 and he preceded her in death in 1998.  Mrs. Smith had worked for the Kreske Department Stores in Marion and also was a Homemaker.  She taught crafts at the Wesleyan Village in Brooksville, Florida and specialized in Macramé.  Naomi loved making pies especially peach and butterscotch and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  Mrs. Smith had been a member of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church.

          Survivors include, one son, David Costello (wife-Carolyn), Muncie; two step sons, Everett Smith (wife-Linda) Bronson, Michigan, and Marvin Smith, Bur Oak, Michigan; one step daughter, Janice Burk, Milwaukee, Wisconsin;  four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild ; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Davidson (wife-Joyce), Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Rev. Howard Cress, (wife-Jean) Warren.               

          Besides her two husbands, Lilburn Costello and Emmet Smith, she is preceded in death by her parents, two sons Mark Costello and Frank Costello; one stepson, Jerry Smith six siblings.

          Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, 2:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Rev. Howard Cress and Rev. Walter Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow the next day at the Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.

          Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Friday July 6, 2012 from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
