Muncie-Natah S. Byrum, 87, went to be with The Lord Thursday morning, June 16, 2016, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Roanoke, Indiana on July 8, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Mayme (Highlands) Heater.
Natah went to Roanoke Schools and also attended Martinsville Senior High School where she met the love of her life, William Byrum and they were married on July 24, 1944 in Martinsville, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Byrum became the manager for the General Nutrition Center at the Muncie Mall for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1994. Mrs. Byrum is a member of the Halteman Village Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and was on the Prayer ministry team for many years, she is a former member of Grace Baptist Church and was in charge of their first nursery program. Natah enjoyed growing flowers doing crochet work, knitting and reading.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky S. Goodman, Muncie, Bobbi L. Grubb (husband-Joe) Gaston and Beth A. Strombeck(husband-Mark), Selma; two sons, William B. Byrum (wife-Kathy), Zionsville and Brent C. Byrum (wife-Ellen), Pendleton; eighteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 40 years, William Byrum, she is preceded in death by her parents, two great grandchildren, Kennedy Hughes and Brianna K. Lowe; two sisters, Elizabeth Bevins and Nancy Knuckles.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at the Halteman Village Baptist Church 4100 N. Oakwood, Muncie, IN 47304, with Pastors Ronald Ross and DeWayne Chadwick officiating. Burial will follow at the Glenwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Roanoke, Indiana. Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Sunday, June 19, 2016, from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and again on Monday, June 20, 2016, from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
