Rev. Perry Pershing

– Rev. Perry James Pershing, 68, Muncie, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015.

            He was born April 25, 1947 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of the late James and Juanita (Alder) Pershing.  Perry was a 1965 graduate of Anderson Highland and also attended Ball State University.  He spent 41 years as an ordained minister and was a school bus driver for Yorktown Community Schools for 20 years; he was also a member of Good News Baptist Church.  Perry’s love for the game of football started at a young age and continued all the way through his school years and into his days of playing semi-pro football, he also had a love for books and reading.

            Survivors include his wife, Janice Pershing, Muncie, IN; three daughters, Shawna Pershing, Muncie, IN; Christina Havens (husband-Danny), Lyman, SC; Angel Kughen (husband-Daniel); Rosenberg, TX; five grandchildren, Robert and Megan Kughen; Henry, Molly Kate, and Eli Havens.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Juanita (Alder) Pershing; a son, Jimmy Pershing; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

            A memorial service will be held at Parson Mortuary at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 with Rev. Charles McAfee officiating.

            Calling will be held at the mortuary from 3:00 p.m. on Friday until time of service.

            In lieu of the flowers the family request that each visitor write down their favorite memory of Perry and bring to the mortuary for the family to enjoy.
