Wanda J. Tomey

Parker City-Wanda J. Tomey, 76, passed away Thursday evening, February 15, 2018, at the Parker City Health Care Center following an extended illness.  She was born in Muncie on, August 8, 1941, the daughter of John Newton and Mabel (Geiger) Clark.

Wanda was a 1959 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later married the love of her life, Daniel “Danny” Tomey on August 23, 1959 in Muncie and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2017.  Wanda had worked as a waitress for Carpenter Farms Restaurant when she was in high school.  Later she would work as a corporate secretary to both Knapp Supply and the AAA Wheel Alignment Service, which her husband had owned.  Wanda had also served as a math tutor for the Muncie Community Schools having been at both Roosevelt Elementary and Southview Elementary for over 20 years prior to her retirement.  Wanda was a long time member of a Euchre Club, a life member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she was on the church board as the church Treasurer, the pastor parish committee, a charge conference member and a member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle.  She had bowled on both women’s and mixed couple leagues, enjoyed golfing, camping doing cross stitch and board games.   Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very precious to her!

Survivors include three sons, John Tomey (wife-Susan), West Bend, Wisconsin, Steve Tomey and Darin Tomey (wife-Lori), both of Muncie; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa, Matthew, Noah, Levi, Jacob, Josh and Sarah; one great granddaughter, Callie.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Stanley Clark and Ferrell Franklin Clark.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Nancy Hunt officiating.  Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary Friday, February 23, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
