Indianapolis-Piero “PJ” Avery Johnson, 34, passed away Monday afternoon, June 11, 2012, at the Indiana University Methodist Hospital following an extended illness.   He was born, June 12, 1977, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of Paul and Ruby (Jennings) Johnson.

          Mr. Johnson is 1995 graduate of Greenwood High School in Greenville, South Carolina.  PJ married Amber (Bowling) Johnson on, November 9, 2010, in Muncie and she survives.  Mr. Johnson had worked many years in the culinary field having served restaurants such as the Olive Garden and Texas Road House.  Most recently, he had worked in the Tool and Die field as a Machine Operator for the B&B Tool Company.  Besides his love for cooking, P.J. enjoyed fishing and collecting dragons.  He was member of the True Vine Progressive Holiness Church of Greenville, South Carolina.

          Besides his wife of almost 2 years, Amber, he is survived  by two sons, Alex Johnson and Richard Johnson both of Greenville, South Carolina; one daughter, Angelic Johnson, Greenville, South Carolina; two step sons, Desmond Bowman and J’Meel Bowman, both of Indianapolis; four step daughters, Chelsi Bowling, Shawna Bowling , Yakira Coffman, all of Muncie and Alysse Bowman, Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Farrah Bowling, Muncie; his mother, Ruby Johnson, Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Reco Johnson, Greenville, South Carolina; one sister, Cathy Jennings,                    Georgia.

          Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor William O’Neal officiating.  Cremation is to follow.

          Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Monday, June 18, 2012, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.

          Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society for Leukemia research, 2723 S. Albright Rd.; Kokomo, IN 46902.
