          Muncie-Viva P. Vorhees, 88, went home to be with the love of her life, her husband Eugene “Gene” H. Vorhees, on Saturday evening, July 21, 2012, at the Bethel Point Health Care Center.   She was born on September 17, 1923, in Muncie, the daughter of Donald and Ethel (Clendenin) Reed.
          Viva graduated from Green Township High School in Randolph County, Indiana in 1942 and later married her husband, Eugene H. Vorhees on December 18, 1945 in Muncie and he passed on April 27, 2012. Mrs. Vorhees had worked in the cafeteria of the Royerton Elementary School for several years before her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, playing cards with family and friends and traveling.
          Survivors include, three daughters, Sharon McClain (husband-Jim), Connie Harter and Jill Keever (husband-Tedd), all of Muncie; 6 grandchildren, Robert A. Harter (wife-Deandra), April Neal (husband-Brad), Mark McClain (wife-Tonja), LeAnn Windsor, Pamela Wilson and Misty Witherite (husband-Jason); 12 great grandchildren; one brother, James D. Reed (wife-Marie), Parker City.
          Besides her husband of 67 years, Eugene, she is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter Reed; one sister, Wanda Owens; one infant great grandson, Cory New in 1990.
          Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Ron Elam officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory north of Muncie.
          Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
          Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
