Muncie-Carl G. Cox, 74, passed away early Friday morning ,September 28, 2012 ,at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on August 7, 1938, in Muncie, the son of Earl and Theresa (Wood) Cox.
Mr. Cox attended Muncie City Schools. Carl had married Betty A. (Jones) Cox who preceded him in death in 2000. He had worked for The City of Muncie with the Street Dept. having driven a truck for 35 ½ years prior to his retirement in 2003. Carl enjoyed fishing and playing cards. It was said of him that he was “a friend of the people”.
Survivors include, two sisters, Sara Himes (husband-John) and Carol Marlow, both of Muncie; his companion, Carolyn Morris, Muncie; a cousin who was like a brother, Tim West (wife-Rita), Muncie; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Bill, Phil, Kenny and Robert Cox.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
