Muncie – Sondra York, 77, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Sondra was born in Muncie on April 7, 1935 the daughter of Albert and Helen (Clevenger) Nicely, and was a graduate of Muncie Central High School.
Mrs. York worked for 15 years with Wert’s Novelty until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Eagles Lodge #231.
Survivors include her children, Deborah A. Bailey, (husband-Dale), Muncie, Tina Monohan, Corpus Christi, Texas, Joni Long, Muncie, Larry A. York, Muncie, Nancy Stephenson, Muncie, and Linda York, Muncie; two brothers Michael Nicely, Muncie, and Albert Nicely, Anderson; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 53 years, Drury W. “Tip” York; and three sons-in-law, Michael Monohan, David Long, and Bob Stephenson.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Tracy Paschke-Johannes officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary one hour prior to time of service on Tuesday.
