Muncie – John E. Threet, 67, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
John was born in Wilder, Tennessee on May 16, 1945, the son of Johnny Clintmon and Anna (Garrett) Threet, and was a graduate of Southside High School.
Mr. Threet served proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked for many years as a Welder for Allison Transmission. John was a member of Tabernacle of Praise. He had a life long love affair with cars, ranging from custom to drag, and he raced often at the Muncie Dragway. He leaves both his family and drag racing family to cherish his memory.
Survivors include his Mother; his wife, Glenna Threet, Muncie; a son Jammie Nathan Threet Sr., Crossville, Tennessee; a daughter, Amanda Threet, Crossville, Tennessee; a brother, Jimmy Threet, (wife-Michelle), Waxahachie, Texas; a sister, Elsie Threet, Kentucky; a step-son, Justin Slone, (wife-Jessica), Pikeville, Kentucky; a step-daughter, Stephanie Bevins, (husband-Joshua), Pikeville, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren; his best friend James Johnson, (wife-Sara), Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Parson Mortuary with Pastor John Tyner officiating. A cremation will take place at a later date. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
