James Getz

James E. Getz (Jimmy), 85, was Born on January 4, 1939, in Muncie, IN to Leo and Georgia (Quate) Getz.

He graduated from Muncie Central, Jimmy worked for IMI for 43 years, and he owned and operated Jimmy’s Rec. for over 45 years as well. Jimmy was a member of Teamsters Local 135 and Eagles Lodge. He also ran for Mayor in 1995. Jimmy was very involved in the Muncie Pal Club, where he was president for over 30 years. He was also involved within the Ross Center with various events. Jimmy dabbed in various things in the Muncie area. He never met a stranger and took many youths under his wing, guiding them in the right direction.

Jimmy is survived by the love of his life, Joan Dampier, children; Connie Smith (Scott Conley), Donna Getz (Donnie Butler), Melanie Ozbun (Greg), Amanda Coffey (Jeremy), Julie Getz, Jamie Getz, and Robert Elier (Laura), grandchildren; Natalie, David (April), Madison, Kenady, Reagan, Casperina and Caymon Smith, Robert Todd (Felica), Shawn, Lacy Shopher, Stuart, Spencer (Kristen), Sydney Ozbun, Jaylie Vong, Chevy and Gunner Buis, Kyler, Myleigh, Kenadee Coffey, great-grandchildren; Jordan, Dawson West, Tank, Korben, Kyndle, Tinsley, Sophia Smith, McKenzie, Zack Todd, Zaine and Zander Murray, Tessa Shopher, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild, brothers-in-law; Rick Webb (Debbie) and Frank Parker, sister-in-law Marilyn Getz, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Georgia Getz, brothers; Ron and Tim Getz, sister Janice Parker, granddaughter Natalie Smith, great-granddaughter Tinsley Smith.

Visitation will be at Parson Mortuary, beginning on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with an hour before, Danny Smith will be officiating.
