Rex Murphy Kunce, 94, left this life, on Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2024, at Morrison Woods Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was born on May 16, 1929, in Genoa, Ohio the son of Walter and Floss Crumm (Murphy) Kunce.
Rex graduated from Huntington High School in 1947 and later married the love of his life, Maryjane (Bruss) Kunce in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 2007. Mr. Kunce had worked for International Harvester now known as Navistar, as a Foundryman for 54 years before his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the AFS (American Foundry Society), Junior Achievement, and the Kiwanis Club of Zenia, Ohio. Mr. Kunce enjoyed gardening, canning food, making stained glass windows, caning furniture, and following Ohio State and Indiana University basketball.
Survivors include one son, Tom Kunce (Donna) Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Zachary Michlow (Emily), Auburn, Mardah Michlow-Ross (Robert), Indianapolis, Gabe Michlow, Portland, Oregon, Phillip Michlow, Ft. Wayne, Joshua Kunce and Nathan Kunce (Meghan), both of Cincinnati and Adam Kunce, Colorado; five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ethan, Kira, Eleanor and Lou.
Besides his wife of over 50 years, Maryjane, he was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Anna Laura Kunce, and one son, David Kunce.
Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana at a later date.
