Austin Michael Cooper

January 5, 1998 ~ February 11, 2017 (age 19) 19 Years Old

Austin Michael Cooper, 19

MUNCIE – On Feb. 11, 2017, in his home, our beloved Austin Michael Cooper became one of God’s Heavenly Angels.  He made his beautiful appearance on this earth in Muncie, Indiana, on Jan. 5, 1998 the son of Melissa Thornton and Chad Cooper.  Austin suffered from chronic asthma for most of his life but he did not let that stop him.  God was kind enough to let us keep him around longer, after two near death experiences from asthma attacks.  For that we are so grateful.  He was a loyal friend, witty, mischievous, but with a heart of gold.  Austin loved technology which led to his job with Concentrix as a technical iphone advisor.  He was a “gadget guy” from early on.  At age 2 his grandparents bought him a turkey baster so he would leave theirs alone.  It expanded to pots & pans, old water heaters, and eventually his love of bikes, assembling and disassembling them, until he advanced to building his own computer.

Austin attended Muncie Schools and was one of the first to be transferred to the new consolidated Central.  In his heart he remained a loyal Southside High School alumnus.  It was there at age 14 he met a girl, Savannah, who was to become his life long love.  We are so happy he brought her into our lives.

Austin leaves behind, loving, but heartbroken family members and friends to cherish and celebrate their time on earth with him.  This includes his mother, Melissa Thornton; father, Chad Cooper; sisters, Kayla Correll and Aubrey Cooper; the love of his life, Savannah Jones; paternal grandparents, Jade “Mike” and Bonnie Cooper; maternal grandmother, Betty Thornton; aunt, Stephanie Thornton; uncles, Coley Cooper and Rusty Thornton; numerous cousins, and many longtime, loyal friends.  He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Zeus; and his chunky dachshund, Chloe.

So until we meet again sweet Austin, breathe easy and rest, your work here is done.  Fly high with the Angels.  Play nice and don’t be taking things apart up there.  We’re sending a piece of our hearts with you on your new and beautiful journey.

Service will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017.

Calling will be at Parson Mortuary 11:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.

Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.
