Daniel Michael Johnson

Muncie-Daniel M. “D.J.” Johnson, 64, passed away Monday morning, December 4, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born on November 20, 1953 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, the son of Hershell and Lois (Sturwold) Johnson.

Daniel is a 1972 graduate of Southside High School and had worked as a self employed concrete finisher and also worked on cars.  Mr. Johnson enjoyed NASCAR following Matt Kenseth as his favorite driver.  Besides working on cars as a hobby he also enjoyed drawing cars.

Survivors include his fiancé ’of 17 years Debra Simmons, Muncie; four sons; Mike Johnson (wife-Ashley), Shawn Simmons, Kenny Simmons and Jeremy Simmons, all of Muncie; two daughters; Trista Skeen and Angela Lipscomb (husband-Trevor), both of Muncie; several grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his mother, Lois Johnson, Muncie; three brothers, Randy Johnson (wife-Angie), New Castle, Troy Johnson ((wife-Dallas), Valrico, Florida and Rory Johnson(fiancé-Kim Runyon), Muncie; two sisters, Debra Johnson Hurst (husband-Bob) and Donna Kay Beaty, both of Muncie; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two twin great grandsons, Tripp and Xavier; his father; both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Leslie McCrory officiating.  Cremation will follow.  Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 12; 00 P.M. until service time.
