Josephine Mills

Muncie- Josephine “Jo” Mills, 86, passed away Monday morning February 13, 2017 at The Woodlands Nursing Home in Muncie. She was born June 9, 1930 in Winchester, the daughter of Oliver and Lily (Sterling) Mills.

                Jo attended Winchester High School until she met the love of her life Arvin Mills. The two wed on September 26, 1946 in Bedford, Kentucky. Jo went on to become a homemaker and mother to four children. Later in life, she went to work in the office of Hoyt Wright in the Muncie Mall. Jo was a very active member of the Stevenson Elementary Parent-Teacher Association. She also worked closely with the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts volunteering much of her time mentoring children. In her spare time, Jo loved to garden and craft. She especially enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time in her yard watching the birds and squirrels.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Arvin Mills, her three daughters; Ardith Cordes (Dean), Diana Wood and Connie Mills, and a son Michael Mills (Marcia), eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Parson Mortuary. Final resting place will be at Woodlawn cemetery near Farmland. Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
