Alice May (Costin) Reed

Muncie-Alice M. Reed, 76, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at the I.U. Health University Hospital following a brief illness.  She was born on August 29, 1942, in Muncie the daughter of Arvel Granville and Rose Annabelle (Stanley) Costin.

Alice is a 1960 graduate of Harrison High School of Gaston.  Alice had worked for Ontario Corporation and later for Altrista/ Jardin Corporations all total for 30 plus years.  Most recently, as a tow motor driver, prior to her retirement in 2007.   Alice was known to be a hardworking   and caring person who gave of herself all the time.  There was never a job she would not do.   She had been a member of the Laborers’ Union, played softball and bowled for many years.  Ms. Reed enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Casinos and hosting cookouts at holidays such as Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Christmas etc.   She was a big fan of hot rods, collected Angels and Mickey Mouse memorabilia.  Mostly, her passion was spending time with her friends and her grandsons.

She is survived by one son, Richard Reed (wife-Renee), Muncie; three grandsons, Austin, Alex and Jacob Reed all of Muncie; one sister, Judy Whetsel, Frankton; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Jeannie Bates, Muncie; her all around companion and love, her pet dog, Ashley.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Lindsey; one bro-in-law, Danny Whetsel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018, 1:00 P.M.  Cremation is to follow.  Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
