Muncie: Austin Durke passed away unexpectedly Sunday December 9, 2018 at I. U. Ball Memorial Hospital. Austin was born on May 3, 1995 to Pat Koger and Hal Durke in Muncie Indiana graduating from South Side High in 2013. He loved sports of all kinds spending many hours in pick-up games in and around Muncie.
Austin was a mentor and the “Dr. Phil” of his friends. His practical jokes, humor and wit endeared him to them in a way that showed them his faith in Christ if not with words by the way he cared for them. The only thing bigger than Austin himself was his heart for his mother, family and friends. At the end of his life, he gave to others the gift of sight and life by being a tissue donor.
Surviving Austin are his mother and friend Pat Koger, father Hal Durke, grandfather Wendell Lee Koger, Aunts; Shirley (Joe) Carnes, Cynthia (Lon) McCammon, Lisa Fetters, Cousins; Joe (Angel) Carnes, Laura McCammon, Ethan McCammon, Hunter McCammon and Mathew (Rachael) Ingram, and special friends; Gunckel, Hank, Nate, Devin, Daulton, Chewy and Kyle. Many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially Gus the Pug will miss his “poppa”.
Preceding Austin in death were his Grandmother Lois Koger, his paternal grandparents; Robert and Mary Durke and cousins; Nelson, Melissa and Rick Coffey.
Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Saturday December 15, 2018 at 10:00a.m. with Pastors Hilton Duncan and Larry Waters officiating. Friends may call Friday evening December 14, 2018 from 4-7p.m. and Saturday from 9:00a.m. until service time.
