Emma Joann (Grubb) Smith

                Muncie-Emma Joann Smith, 65, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  She was born on July 28, 1952, in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of Calvin and Juanita (Holt) Grubb, Sr.

                Emma had graduated from James Madison High school and later married the love of her life Edward Smith in 1988,  and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2011.   Mrs. Smith had worked as a waitress for various restaurants most recently Burt’s Peppy Grill located in Indianapolis.  She had just started attending the Temple Baptist Church in Muncie prior to her illness. Emma enjoyed working on word search books and searching the internet on the computer.

                Survivors include two sons, Barry Stevens (fiancé-Melissa Johnson), Muncie and Elbert Stevens, Martinez, California; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Grubb, Indianapolis.

                Besides her husband of 23 years, Edward, she is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Calvin Grubb, Jr.; one sister, Luella Stevens.

                A memorial service will be held Friday , January 12, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Temple Baptist Church ,3501 S. Madison St. Muncie, Indiana 47302.
