Ernest Gibson: 86 years old born in Monticello, Kentucky to Arthur Roscoe “Ross” and Hettie (Dobbs) Gibson, May 20 1931 and moved to Indiana as a child. He died April 10, 2018 at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He had worked for Broderick Company for 39 ½ years as a machine operator and retired in 1987 after the plant had closed. Ernest was an avid fisherman and loved to entertain everyone by singing and playing one of his many guitars.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Frances (Woolum) Gibson, one daughter Clarissa (Riece) Yost, his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by Son: Ernest (Butch) Gibson, wife Karen, Monroe, Washington and daughters: Deborah (Kay) Rittenhouse, (husband David), Farmland, Indiana and Karen Rust, husband (Ric), Columbia City, Indiana….. 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephew. And as Ernie always said, “Hundreds of Friends”.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, 1:00 P.M. with Pastor John Foster officiating at the Parson Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Beech Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the parson Mortuary on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. Until service time.
