Geneva M. (Hyso) Hartley

March 30, 1940 ~ September 11, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

                Muncie-Geneva M. Hartley, 77, passed away Monday afternoon, September 11, 2017, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  She was born on March 30, 1940, in Muncie, the daughter of Benton Edward and Myrtie B. (Rose) Hyso.     

                Geneva is a 1958 graduate of Muncie Central High School and received an A.S. Degree from Indiana Vocational Technical College in Activities Coordination for health care facilities.  She married the love of her life, Joseph Hartley on October 30, 1958 in Muncie and he survives.  Mrs. Hartley had worked as the activities Director for the Westminster Village Health Care Center prior to retiring in 2002.  Mrs. Hartley had volunteered for the Cancer Center located at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital was the PTO President for Claypool Elementary School, was involved in girl scouting as a leader, loved travelling, especially to Europe and Asia, scrapbooking, doing crafts, going to festivals, and attended the Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene.  Mostly, Geneva enjoyed being a grandma and taking their many grandchildren and great grandchildren to various places.

                Besides her husband of 59 years, Joseph, she is survived by, three daughters Kathy Dampier, Muncie, Kendra Plank (companion-Bob Norris), Selma; and Kristy Shea (husband-Miles), Ft. Montgomery, New York; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

                She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Scott Hartley in 2014; three brothers and two sisters.

                Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Mark Ellcessor with burial to follow at the Beech Grove Cemetery. 

                Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 9:00 A.M. until service time.

                Memorial contributions may be made to a Go Fund me account via Alisha Kreider on Facebook to help defray funeral costs.
