Muncie-Homer W. Davidson, 93, passed away Thursday morning, March 28, 2019, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on October 12, 1925, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the son of Marion H. and Lucy (Flowers) Davidson.
Homer attended Byrdstown city schools and moved to Muncie in 1947. Later he married the love of his life, Clara (Jones) Davidson in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 2015. Mr. Davidson had worked as a production laborer in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 20 years and then became a custodian for Muncie Community Schools for 15 years prior to his retirement from Forest Park Elementary School. He had proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a machine gunner and was a member of the 69th Infantry Association. Homer was also a member of Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Dale Sorrels (wife-Tammy), Huntingburg, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jesse Sorrels, Jimmy Dale Sorrels, Jr., Lora Hadley, Jada Sorrels and Becky Rogers; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Cynthia and John Jett, Jr. (Droopy) and their children Jayden and Calynn who all participated as care givers and whom will greatly miss him!
Besides his wife of 66 years, he is preceded in death by three brothers, John, Ray and Roy Davidson; two sisters, Eva Davidson and Elsie Bell.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 10:00 A.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor James O. McCowan officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie. Military honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
