Jerry Lee Townsend

Muncie- Jerry Lee Townsend, 78, passed away Sunday morning, April 2, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born on July 25, 1938, in Hartford City, the son of Alfred Albert and Helen Juliene (Waters) Townsend.

                Jerry married Pearly (Barnett) Townsend on, November 14, 1998, in their home and she survives.  Mr. Townsend has worked for various places throughout the Muncie area but most recently for Borg-Warner as a Supervisor in their maintenance Department for fifteen years prior to his retirement in 2003.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating when he was able to.

               Besides his wife of eighteen years, Pearly, he is survived by  four sons, Terry Townsend (wife-Beth), Indianapolis, Christopher Townsend (wife-April) and Jason Townsend both of Muncie and Troy Shane Townsend, Ft. Wayne; one daughter, Juliene Couture (husband-Michael), SanDiego, California; two step daughters, Terri Sanders (husband-Mark), Muncie and Yalanda Jefferson (companion-Michael Early), Weirton, West Virginia; twelve  grandchildren, Brianne, Talen, Amanda, Westley, Jacob, Lauren, Annastatia, Dakota, Isaiah, Elijah, Conner and Caitlyn; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Townsend (wife-Mary Ann) and Bill Townsend (wife-Diane), both of Hartford City; one sister, Barbara Blankenship, Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

                He is preceded in death by a son, Allyn Townsend; a daughter, Jerri LeAnn Townsend; three brothers, Wayne, Eddie and Dale Townsend.

                Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Ken Beaton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Memorial Park north of Muncie.

                Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.

                Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of a “Go Fund Me Account” set up for the purpose of purchasing a marker to be placed at the cemetery.
