Nora L. Modglin

Muncie- Nora L. Modglin, 66, passed away early Thursday morning, November 29, 2018, at the Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on September 4, 1952, in Muncie, the daughter of Adam Newell and Frances (Campbell) Coats.

Nora is a 1970 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later married the love of her life, James (Jim)Modglin on October 7, 1971 in Muncie and he survives. Mrs. Modglin became a Licensed Practical Nurse through the Ball Memorial Nursing Program and served Ball Memorial Hospital for 13 years before staying home to be a homemaker.  She became “Mom” to many and as Aunt Non to so many more during that time, and was also known as “The Rock,” a stabilizing force to so many.  She was a member of the Indiana State Nursing Association.

Besides her husband of 47 years, Jim, she is also survived by one son, James Modglin II (wife-Jennifer), Muncie; one very beloved granddaughter, Cassandra Jade Modglin, Muncie; two sisters, Jeri Campbell (husband-Timothy) and Connie Williams both of Muncie; two brothers, James Newell , Muncie and Adam Newell, New Castle; three special nieces, Ashley Meadows (husband-Zacharie), Muncie, Sara Delk, Anderson and Gracee Williams, Muncie; many other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kathy Modglin in 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor James Ballenger officiating.  Burial will follow at the Tomlinson Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
