Muncie-Porter N. Harmon, 78, passed away Tuesday morning, May 1, 2012, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on February 21, 1934, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the son of Floyd and Maude (Bilbrey) Harmon.
In his youth, Porter moved to the Muncie area and eventually graduated from Muncie Central High School. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Harmon had worked for Borg-Warner Manufacturing for 35 years as a Tow Motor Driver prior to his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Muncie Lodge #433 and the Borg-Warner Sympathy Club. Porter had been involved in politics having served as a Precinct Committeeman. He enjoyed fishing and following NASCAR.
Surviving are his son, Rick Harmon (companion-Judy Cook), Muncie; two sisters, Barbara Paris (husband-Harry), Muncie and Margaret Stout (husband-William), Byrdstown, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the Brown Funeral Chapel 504 W. Mains St. Byrdstown, Tennessee 38549 with Pastor Alan Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at the Williams Chapel Cemetery in Byrdstown.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Brown Funeral Chapel.
