Samuel Caldwell, 70, of Muncie departed from this life on January 18,2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His firm belief in the Lord and the loving devotion of his family provided him with peace and strength throughout his journey.
Samuel was born to the late Burnett and Myrtle Caldwell in Muncie on June 4,1948. He was immersed - in church life from a young age including many years as a member of River of Life (formerly Parkview Apostolic Church). His faith in God was a stabilizing force through the peaks and valleys of life.
Samuel was a family man and his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family - especially joking and teasing with them. He married the love of his life, Toni Monroe, on January 14,1967. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary just four days before his passing. Together they had four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Samuel loved gospel music, singing, and playing his guitars. He also loved traveling, especially with family. He enjoyed shopping, and particularly finding a great deal. He was an avid collector of watches, pocket knives, and various other items.
Samuel is survived by wife, Toni; his children Tammy VanOoteghem (husband Kirk), Chris Caldwell (wife Stacey), and Lauren Caldwell; his grandchildren Christopher Caldwell, Gabrielle Criswell (husband Caleb), Cheyenne Caldwell, Silas VanOoteghem, and Ella VanOoteghem; great-grandchild Elexis; and siblings James Caldwell (wife Vergie), Walter Caldwell, Stella Weaver, Grover Caldwell (wife Carolyn), G.P.
