Welcome to the memorial page for

Sandra E (Pittenger) Pippin

March 26, 1937 ~ January 16, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

With her loving family at her side, Sandra “Sandy” Pippin went home to meet her Lord on Monday afternoon January 16th at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness ended her earthly life.  With Sandra’s solid faith she had always rejoiced in the knowledge that she would one day meet Jesus.  Sandra was born on March 26, 1937, to Claude and Lottie Pittenger of DeSoto, Indiana.  She was raised in DeSoto and was a member of, and actively attended, the DeSoto United Methodist Church for her entire life.  She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1955, and soon after she traveled to Germany where her future husband Louis “Louie” Pippin was stationed in the US Army.  They were married on January 22, 1956 in Karlsruhe Germany.  Their married life together was a few days shy of 61 years and was never boring.  After returning to DeSoto in 1957, Sandra settled into being a devoted wife and raising their three daughters.  Sandra worked alongside Louie helping in everything he was involved in at any given time. She enjoyed working in the yard, painting, wall papering, farming, re-building houses, helping Louie work on cars, and doing anything constructive.  After their daughters were raised, she worked at, and retired from, Lifetouch Senior Portraits; however, retirement did not last long.  She was soon working at Wal-Mart North where she was a cashier and host for the past 18 years.

Along with Louie, Sandra is survived by daughters: Cindy Sollars (Randy), Donna Scheid (Walt), and Brenda Vance (Brian); grandchildren: Jonathan Lamb (Mollee), Adam Scheid (Angela), Amanda Bender (Chris), Rachel Binkley-Vance (Jessica), and Daniel Vance (Jessica);  great-grandchildren: Owen and Dashiell Lamb, Stella Scheid, Caroline and Parker Bender, and Ella Vance; sister Frances Miller; sisters-in-law:  Phyllis Pittenger, Virginia Wedmore (Johnny), Phyllis Ketcham (John), Susie Shorten (Russell) and brother-in-law, Jim Pippin, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, who are scattered around the country.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Frederick and Wayne, brother-in-law Gerald Miller, and sister-in-law Louise Pippin.

Sandra had a host of friends in the DeSoto group, who have been very close all these years; the old car group who also became her loyal friends; and not the least, her large extended family, both co-workers and customers, at Muncie Wal-Mart North which became her second home and she came to love.  In addition there is her Yorkie dog, Hope, and her cats, Bonnie and Clyde.

A Celebration of Life will be held at DeSoto United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 21 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastor Frank Oakman officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.  Friends and family may call at Parson Mortuary from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 20 and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to DeSoto United Methodist Church, 6309 North CR 500 East, Muncie, Indiana 47303
