COOKEVILLE, TN - Velva Harriet (Norris) Rowland, 87, Cookeville, TN, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017.
She was born August 9, 1930 in Cookeville, TN, the daughter of the late Cora and Pascal Adams. Velva lived most of her life in Muncie before returning to Cookeville in 1996. She loved crocheting, old country music and the Grand Ole Opry. Velva had visited the Opry many times with her sister and was always welcomed backstage.
Survivors include her son, Pastor Carl Norris, (wife-Marsha); two step sons, Eric and Jason Rowland; two sisters, Euneta Kirby and Peggy McCloud; a brother, Hugh Adams, (wife-Kathy); ten grandchildren, Dawn, Carl, Lisa, Melissa, Eric, Greg, Sayota, Trey, Tomica, and Cora; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father of her children, Carl E. Norris; second husband, Scott Rowland; two daughters, Ann Norris and Pam Knight; son, Larry Norris; and great-grandson, Zachary Norris.
Services will be at Burlington Drive Freewill Baptist Church, 1131 South Burlington Dr, Muncie, IN 47302, at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 with Pastor Carl Norris officiating.
Calling will be at Burlington Drive Freewill Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. on Sunday until time of service.
