Vera Jean Barefoot

Muncie: Vera Jean (Ullom) Barefoot, 89, passed away Wednesday morning November 7, 2018 at Silver Birch Assisted Living Center, Muncie Indiana after a long illness.

Vera was born on October 25, 1929 to the late Clova and Burral Edwards in Muncie graduating from Royerton High school. She worked for Clyde Edwards Shoes for more than 30 years. She became a member of Chief Muncie VIPs Chapter of American Business Women having 14 years of perfect attendance, held many offices including President for 2 years, being honored as woman of the year in 1972.

Vera moved to Venice Florida in 1984 staying for 23 years where her busy life included line dancing, knitting, and crafting. She became an active member of First Christian Church and served as CWF president, chaired many Bazaars and fundraisers to further their Missions Projects. In 2007, Vera moved back to Muncie renewing friendships and making new ones. Her busy life continued with crossword puzzles, knitting, computer games and more crafting. She attended church at Muncie First Church of the Nazarene and Gethsemane United Methodist Church.

Surviving Vera are daughter Jeanne Hewitt (Bob) Blairsville Ga., sons: Jay Ullom (Rita) of Muncie, Bruce Ullom (Angela) of Longview TX.: Seven grandchildren: Laura of Main, Steve of North Carolina, Annie in Florida, Jerimi from Indianapolis, Justin from Muncie, Ashlee of Chicago, Amanda from Longview Texas: 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Her special niece Linda Nichols (Larry), special friend Mandy Baker and five nephews will also miss her.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents: the love of her life William Barefoot: Brother Clyde Edwards: and two sisters Madonna Lusby and Mary Webber.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary, 801 West Adams Street Muncie on Monday November 12, 2018 at 6p.m. with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Visitation will be from 4p.m. until the time of service. Cremation will follow.
