Bessie Toll, 94, went to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, April 21, 2024, following an extended illness at the Brickyard Health Care Center.  She was born on August 22, 1929, in Jamestown, Tennessee the daughter of William and Mandy (Doss) Maynard.

Bessie attended Jamestown Community Schools and came to Muncie in 1950.   Bessie later married the love of her life, Paul E. Toll on July 18, 1953, and he preceded her in death in 2010.   Mrs. Toll had worked as the Manager of the Produce Dept. of Ross Supermarket for twenty-four years before her retirement in 1992.  She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church and enjoyed gardening, especially roses, cooking, and specializing in Christmas candy and deviled eggs.  Mostly, Bessie treasured being with her grandchildren whenever possible.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Toll (Cindy), Muncie, and Dr. Larry Toll (Mary) Mustang, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Sherri Nial, Muncie,  Zachary Toll, Springfield, Missouri, and Daniel Toll, Mustang, Oklahoma; one great-grandson, Nathan Nial, Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Betty Hinds, Crossville, Tennessee and Joyce Davis (Doug), Ft. Wayne; several nieces and nephews.       Besides her husband of 57 years, Paul, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Robert and William Maynard; four sisters, Joanna Garrett, Flossie Tenpenny, Nellie Lay, and Jewel York.

Funeral services will be held at  1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary on Friday, April 26, 2024, with Pastor Lane Fairchild and Dr. Larry Toll officiating.  Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Friday, April 26, 2024, from noon until the time of the service.
