Betty Irene (Applegate) Daniel, 90, formerly of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Springhill, Kansas.
Born in Maysville, Kentucky, on January 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude Applegate. On August 22, 1958, Betty married the love of her life, Alva Wayne Daniel, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing on February 9, 2000.
Betty lived a life completely defined by her deep love for her family. As a successful business owner, she achieved the rare and proud balance of entrepreneurship and motherhood, always making sure she saw her children on the school bus in the morning and was waiting to greet them when they returned. Her devotion was stitched into everything she did, from crafting beautiful homemade clothes to designing memorable Halloween costumes for her children. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, including camping, canning fresh produce from her garden, and, in her later years, enjoying trips to the casino. Above all, her favorite moments were those spent surrounded by the people she loved.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children: Jill Daniel Snow, Michele (Kevin) Fitzsimmons, and Jo (John) Hollingsworth. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Holly (Kevin) Jones of Leslie, MI; Lindsay (Jay) Wilson of Bella Vista, AR; Josh (Ashley) Springer of Fishers, IN; Natalie (Evan) Corcoran of Noblesville, IN; Matthew Hollingsworth of Indianapolis, IN; and McKenzie (Sam) Cline. Pendleton, IN. Her joy multiplied through her nine great-grandchildren, with a tenth eagerly expected in March 2027. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Dixon of Lexington, KY.
Betty will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Funeral services will be at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana, on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on the day of the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.
