Betty J. McMichael, 96, went to her heavenly home Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2023, at Morrison Woods Health Care Center following an extended illness.  She was born on February 15, 1927, in Rushville, Indiana the daughter of James Ellsworth and Eva (Wells) Naden.

Betty graduated from Yorktown High School in 1944 and later married the love of her life Shelley Lofton McMichael on February 9, 1946, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1981.    Mrs. McMichael became a Secretary for Ball State University having served them for more than 40 years prior to her retirement in the English and religious programs Departments.   She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as an executive secretary for the Bishopric at one point, she also served in the church library, taught in the primary department, and worked with the young women's camp.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Eva Lantz (Michael), Muncie, Janet Fosco (Bernard) Gwinn, Michigan, and Carol McMichael, Lowell, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great, great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Wilma Sholty, Indianapolis, several nieces, and nephews.

Besides her husband of 35 years, Shelley, she was preceded in death by 1 son, William L. McMichael her parents, her step-father, Sherman Vanover, and 2 sisters, Marian Thorman and Laura Jean (Piper) Lucas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Parson Mortuary with Bishop Thad Hymas officiating.  Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday evening, June 8, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
