On the evening of August 15, 2023, Brenda went home to Jesus after a year and a half battle with cancer while surrounded by her friends and family. Brenda was born to Connie and Gary Michael Garrett on December 14, 1968, in Muncie. Brenda dedicated her life to her family and her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for over 30 years. She worked at numerous nursing facilities in the Muncie area and was known for her commitment to providing compassionate care to her residents. When Brenda wasn't taking care of residents, she was laying out in the sun or at the Prairie Creek Reservoir spending time with friends and family. Brenda loved spending time with her children, family, grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Connie Garrett-Gross, and her husband Doug Gross; her daughter, Danielle Phillips-Robinson, and her husband Pierre; her son, Marvin Murphy III and his fiancée Mellia; her brother Michael Garrett; her stepbrothers, Danny, Johnny, and Eddie Gross; her grandchildren, Kielar Koons and his girlfriend Alyssa and their two children, Kynleigh and Avery; Kavan Koons, Kshaun English, Kyrie Robinson, Kyren Robinson. She has numerous nieces and nephews that meant the world to her.

Brenda joins her father Mike Garrett and her sister Tina Garrett in Heaven.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie, Indiana.  Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Pastor Jeff Ellis will officiate.
