Clara Ernestine "Ernie" Shields, 96, passed away on May 12, 2023, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Montgomery Township, Illinois and her family moved to Medford, Wisconsin.

Ernie later moved to Muncie, Indiana, and found work at Ball Corporation for the next forty-five years, where she met and married her husband, Warren E. Shields.  Together they had two children, Eugene Lee Shields, wife Vickie, and Cheryl Lynn (Shields) Winters, husband Jeff.

Ernie is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Winters, three grandchildren, Karen (Kelley) McCarville, husband Mike, Scott Shields, wife Kelly, and Christine (Shields) Sprunger, husband Tim,  as well as seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Estel, husband Warren, and one son, Eugene Lee Shields.

Graveside services will take place at Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie, on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
