Cynthia Lynne Payne went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2026, at the age of 60, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.  She was born in Marion, Indiana, on January 22, 1966, the daughter of Bud and Barbara (Marsh) Payne.

At a young age, her family moved to Muncie and attended local schools, graduating from Muncie Central.  Following graduation, she earned a master's degree in Music from Olivet Nazarene University.  She went on to use her musical gifts to inspire students and shared her gifts with her church family.

Cynthia was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Reds fan, but she enjoyed watching all types of sports.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  But most of all, she was a "daddy's girl" who had a strong, undying love for her father.

Cynthia is survived by one daughter, Joanna Smith (Jeremy), her father, Bud Payne, a sister, Carol Payne, and grandchildren, Trevor, Lexi, Jeremiah, and Alyvia.  In addition, she leaves behind nephews, Josh Payne (Karri), Caleb Payne (Katie), and a niece, Morgan Needham (Charlie), as well as several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and "adopted sisters."

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Payne, maternal grandparents, Howard and Louise Marsh, and paternal grandparents, William Payne and Elsie Ely.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9th, at 12:30 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie, Indiana.  Friends may call on the family from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on the day of the service.

A private family burial will follow the service.
