Damon Summers, 91, passed away late Tuesday evening, October 11, 2022, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  He was born on August 3, 1931 in McMinnville, Tennessee the son of Gwyn and Jolene (Shirley) Summers.

Damon graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1950 and later took additional training in heating, cooling and plumbing.  He had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal during that time.   Eventually he married the love of his life, Sue (Perry) Summers on November 21, 1953 in New Castle, Indiana and she survives.  Mr. Summers had worked for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1990 for Delco Battery.  He also owned and operated a business where he did Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning.  Mr. Summers was a member of the Westside Church of Christ and was a former Elder when he was a member of Towne Acres Church.   He enjoyed auto racing especially NASCAR.

Besides his wife of 68 years, Sue, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Smalley (Jay), and Michele Summers; three grandchildren, Travis Dailey (Sara), Palmer Smalley (Kristina) and Perrie Richards (Steven); two great grandchildren, Quinn and Connor Dailey; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Tyler Dailey in 1984; two brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Preacher Michael Gors officiating.  Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
