David William Shelley, 79, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday evening, June 30, 2022, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born on January 20 1943 in Gary, Indiana the son of Robert L. and Miriam (Miller) Shelley.

David graduated from Burris Laboratory School in 1961 and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Simon Lake during the Vietnam War Era. David married the love of his life, Charlotte (Penix) Shelley in 1970 and she survives.   Eventually, he became a Tool Maker for Duffy Tool and Die prior to his retirement in 2005.

Mr. Shelley was associated with the East Jackson Street Church of God.  He was devoted to his family and enjoyed creating memories with them, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 51 years, Charlotte, he is also survived by two daughters, Pat (Gibson)Dickinson (Dave), Parker City, Annette McKissack (Jeff), Muncie; six grandchildren, Alyssa (Renier), Kenny, Matt (Alysa), Ashley (Brandon), Connor and Shelley; seven great-grandchildren, Arianna, Kaiden, Keegan, Isabella, Wyatt, Emerson and Eli; one son-in-law, Patrick Brown, Ellington, Florida; two sisters, Alice Clark, North Carolina, and Jane Chong, Hawaii; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Allyson Brown who passed on November 3, 2020.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 12:30 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Harold Goodpastor officiating.  Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.  Delaware County Honor Guard will be providing Military Honors.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 12:30 P. M.
