Dean Bowden, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  Dean was born on March 21st, 1935 in Cooperative, Kentucky and was the son of Ernest Bowden and Endia Bowden.  The family later moved to Stearns, Kentucky, where Dean grew up.  Dean worked for Meadow Gold Ice Cream for 30 years and held several positions while working there.  Dean later owned his own business, Downtown Recreation, which was a pool hall for 20 years.  Dean loved to play cards and was an avid reader.

Dean is survived by his wife, Nancy Bowden.  Two daughters, Debbie VanNatter and Lisa Bowden, and one son, Mike Bowden.  Siblings, one brother, Gene Bowden, two sisters, Bettie Summers and Jenny Young (David), and a brother-in-law, Toby Benson.  A grandson, Shawn Bowden, three great-grandchildren, Damen Bowden, Hallie Bowden, and Macie Bowden, and several nieces and nephews.

Dean is proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest and Endia Bowden.  A sister, June Benson, a brother-in-law, John Summers, a sister-in-law, Della Bowden, and son-in-law, Jerry VanNatter.

A private family gathering will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11AM at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in the mausoleum.
