Derek Shane Dickey, 33, lost his fight on earth in the early hours of September 9, 2023, in Muncie, Indiana.  He was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on March 5, 1990, moving to Muncie in the spring of 2007.

Derek's favorite hobby was installing car stereo systems.  He was a jokester and always liked to make people laugh.  He had a heart of gold and was the type of guy who would help anyone on the side of the road or give you his last dollar.  He was brave and was willing to do anything thing for those he loved, a true "ride or die."  Everyone who met Derek enjoyed his company. He was a family man who devoted most of his time to working hard. He loved spending time with his children and teaching them new things.

Derek is survived by his partner of life long partner, Dessiray Thompson, daughter Abigail Gregory, two sons, Isaiah and Lincoln Dickey, birth mother Sonora (Ricky) White, sister, Tonya Dickey, brothers Tommie and Jarrod Beasley, grandmother, Patsy Price, and nephews, Logan and Levi Johnston.

He was preceded in death by parents Donald Wayne and Sonja Abernathy Dickey, grandfathers Glenn Williams and George Dickey, and grandmothers Francis Bland and Mildred Pizzola.

Please gather at the Legion in Yorktown on November 11, at 4:00 PM for a celebration of life and to share memories of all the joy he brought to this world. Special thanks to his best men/brothers Trent Daugherty, Shaun Schad, and Jordan Tuttle for helping organize the celebration.

Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die.

The wind blows, and we are gone-as though we had never been here.

And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.
